LA BAYADÈRE: SOLOR VARIATION (2021)

My stop-motion interpretation of the famous male variation from the ballet La Bayadère (1877) composed by Ludwig Minkus and originally choreographed by Marius Petipa, with later adaptations from Vakhtang Chabukiani, Vladimir Ponomarev, and Natalia Makarova. This animation specifically is based on a performance of the number by Sergei Polunin. I created this as an impromptu side-project to another work, in order to get some final use from that original project's worn-down puppet. I photographed the puppet against a green screen, created backgrounds in Photoshop, and edited the footage and created atmospheric effects in After Effects. I mixed my arrangement of the music in Garageband, which I also used to create applause sounds using samples of my own handclaps.
